10/31/07 - Aww, I'm touched that some of you are wistful about the lack of traffic here. My class does have their own wiki - I wonder if you can find it? I've enjoyed subbing for Dr. Millan this week in 2nd year theory. Neapolitans and Aug. 6 chords are so cool! Don't you guys dig the sound?? :D
Please do keep checking back here for resources. You guys could keep posting 2nd and 3rd year (and beyond) content to this site, ya know. It is YOUR site. That didn't stop in May 2007!
5/3/07 - Yourlast chapter test (modulation and 2ndary function) is HERE!
5/3/07 - Don't forget about the Written Theory review session chez moi Sunday, May 6 at 7pm!

How OCD am I that I've checked this pretty frequently since the end of last semester. I miss those of you that I heven't seen in a while. I'll see the rest of you tomorrow.
Jesse, remember how you're not "allowed" to change the FrontPage. Surely you'll be able to open one of these files.
This exam is perhaps longer than usual, but use it as an opportunity to study/work on your final exam! (Waste not, want not!) PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY, otherwise you might miss multiple "questions" embedded in the larger paragraphs. I expect that you will work on each section TOGETHER (in your assigned pairs). I also expect that every group should do well on this exam not only based on what I've seen from your homework, but because these are very important concepts, and we have spent quite a bit of time analyzing the construction from many different angles.

Here's how it all shook out . . .

Because we essentially had no midterm exam, I had to adjust the grade distribution.

15% participation & attendance (most of you received A-/A)

20% journal (quite a wide range of grades - I'm not impressed)

35% quizzes (mostly As and Bs except 2 students received no credit for 1 quiz)

30% final (lowest grade was 61; highest was 92)

Here's a list that includes final exam grades and your final assigned letter grade

STU ID (last 4)

Final Exam

Final Grade

Chapter 10 The Inner Workings of Harmonic Progression and Rhythm

Things to think about when you are part writing:

1.) Allow all tendency tones to resolve correctly.

*This means that a leading tone in a V or a vii diminished chord resolves UP by step to the tonic pitch when it goes to I or vi.

*The 7th of any chord resolves DOWN by step

DR.JAMES!
Lillian (my accompanist) called me today at 5:20/30ish. She can NOT go to my Jury tommorow at one. She said that she talked to Anne, who said she is avaliable Wed. between 11 and 1:30. Would you possibly be avaliable also? I emailed Dr.cody and am going to try to find his phone number.
Please let me know if you think this would work, or if you have any other ideas!!! I will also leave a note on your door!!
Thanks so much!!!
